Honestly, Congress should have more to worry about than this right now.

Theory is that Clemens will now be able to cite his ongoing legal case as a reason NOT to testify.
Thats what the 'experts' are saying anyway. It could be no more than additional cynicism, who knows.

It appears the hearing has been postponed so lawmakers can search for more evidence.

I think Congress has served a role very nicely in this steroids thing without directly getting involved. It was their threat to get involved which led to MLB testing for steroids. If not for that threat the Players Association and MLB would still be fighting that one out.
In this case they will get testimony under oath and that is a good thing. I believe they also have subpoena power, something the Mitchell report didn't.
Now whether that testimony is going to be truthful is another matter. What incentive is there to tell the truth? It's not like they are going to be prosecuted for lying to Congress. Palmiero sure wasn't. Bud has testified before that he believed there were teams that were going to go under but he was never prosecuted. You get worse punishment lying to your mom than you do to Congress
"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. Mariner
It'll be a goofy looking show, for sure, but we have to admit that baseball is important to us at least, and clean baseball is important, and probably just as important as tobacco subsidies and dairy price supports. It seems like getting Congress involved is the only way to make baseball move on this.
Kirk Radomski will be sentenced on Feb. 8th. That means that a lot of the meat and potatoes will be left out.
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton
