Good for her. My dad would of done the exact same thing. He almost sold it for finding a pack of smokes in my car. Of course I was holding them for a friend

I've never even heard of an Oldsmobile Intrigue.

I wonder if the booze came with the ride.

Offered between 1998 and 2003, it was the car that was supposed to turn around Olds. It sold pretty well but their fate was already sealed by that point.

My parents had a '98 Intrigue. It is still one of the quietest and best riding cars I've ever been in.

Her son claims the booze was left by a passenger. That's the oldest dodge in the book.

But even if it were true I'd still hold my kid responsible for allowing alcohol, regardless whose it is, in the car. Not good.

I probably wouldn't have sold the car. That seems kind of harsh. But even if you decide to punish the kid by selling the car, then do so and let it go. But don't humiliate them publically by taking out an ad. Overboard IMO.

My daughter just got her license, and she knows that her parents have certain rules that better not be violated or else.

Dude, SEARCH the car before you get out, get rid of all evidence.

Kid has only himself to blame

    I think it's fantastic.

Did it say the kid was 19? When I was 19, I was enlisted in the Army and roaming the German countryside sampling every kind of alcoholic beverage I could find. My mother had absolutely nothing to do with my transportation, so she couldn't take it from me. Of course, the buck sergeant and warrant officer got tired of picking me up from the various places I found myself the next morning.

On the one hand, I think it's great that she's outlawed alcohol anywhere near the car; On the other hand, I think it's pitiful that the kids mommy is able to sell his car. I mean, he IS a legal adult isn't he? Maybe they'll make one of those Milwaukee's Best Light beer commercials out of him. :

Wow a mom with some integrity and bite to her thoughts and words supported by action. Good for her.

Good point. I went into the military when I was 18, and was shipped overseas 6 months later to Spain. Talk about a learning experience for a 19 year old. One of the first phrases I learned was "Uno más cerveza por favor"

And over there you could throw up in their streets with impunity. Just don't hit the mule or moped!

But I was on my own and held responsible for my own actions.

Just saw this. I'd do the same.

I've repeatedly forewarned my kids that if I catch them driving any of my cars (and all of "their" cars are my cars) under the influence then that is the Dad "death penalty", i.e. they don't get to drive any of my cars again. Ever. *Ever*.

And each of them has been looked in the eye with a Roy skunk eye to emphasize the point and asked if there was any doubt, any unclarity, anyambiguity at all on this. Because I am serious as a heart attack about it (and I put an adjective I don't normally use around my children in front of "heart attack" that rhymes with fire truck).

If they want to buy their own car and insure it, then they are free to pursue whatever stupid behavior they wish. But not in my car they will.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning
