“The crows seem to be calling my name,” thought Caw.
More than a little goofy. We all know these deals are commercial, but at least "Great American" doesn't sound as much like an advertisement.
We got lucky with "Great American." Nobody outside Cincy knows Great American Insurance...
Progressive Field....the liberals win again!
Man I hate this trend. What a sell-out. Of course it's not as bad as Riverfront becoming "Cinergy Field". Man that still makes me mad. Next we're going to start seeing Burger King Stadium, and McDonalds Field.
I'm all for renaming my team's stadium if it net's me a FA pitcher!
I agree that I dislike this trend. It began for me with Riverfront's transition to Cinergy field. The bellweather will be if someone buys and renames Wrigley; as it will be for sale soon.
Just spoke with my Brother-in-law, he lives in Westlake-a suburb of Cleveland, and you're right Jacobs Field (aka The Jake) will be known as Progressive Field from the company owning naming rights: Progressive Insurance. He wasn't happy about the news but that's the way it is.
Wrigley was the original innovator of corporate-named stadiums.
