McNamee: Clemens had abcess in '98

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3193081

Not sure how much we actually want to discuss this topic, but I thought it added an interesting wrinkle... er... abcess to the Clemens story.

Brian McNamee told federal law enforcement officials that Roger Clemens developed an abscess on his buttocks around the time that McNamee said he was giving him steroid injections in 1998, a lawyer with knowledge of details of the case told The New York Times.
I thought this part was particularly instructive:

But three members of the Toronto Blue Jays organization that season, including two trainers, said they did not recall Clemens having an abscess in 1998, the newspaper reported.
Trainer Joe: Hey, do you remember seeing one of those abcesses in Roger's butt back in '98?

Trainer John: Well let's see... no, I think his butt was pretty intact in those days.

Trainer Joe: That's what I remember too. No abcesses in those cheeks!

Saying you don't recall is not saying he did not have one. Spin, indeed.

    Bad abscesses leave scars.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Oops... I misspelled "abscess" in my original post and now I can change it. How embarrassing!
