My goodness... this seems like a good deal at first blush!

Interesting. I wonder if they see him as a started.

I like that he can either start or relieve. And he's a lefty, which is good as well.

Let's look at the positives -

    He's a lefty.
    He's got decent stuff.
    He's cheap.
    He's only 28.

    Not bad.

    Nice pick up.

Put up good numbers with the Rockies... that bodes well for GABP.

Better than a sharp stick in the eye. I imagine he starts the season in the rotation. Lowish K/9, highish BB/9. He's basically a mid-level projection of what Bailey might be this year. ERA floating around 5 depending on his luck. For only 1 year and $3M guaranteed, not a bad idea.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Sounds like very nice pickup. Since Reds filled their 40 man roster with Anderson..... someone will be dropped.

Unfortunately I can see people wondering the level of involvement Jocketty has/ the ability for Wayne to think for himself with this deal or any future deal. Waye has seemed shrewd and meticulous from the moment he arrived, and if Affeldt works out he should get credit for it, unless the truth of Jocketty's involvement surfaces.

I'm not sure I get why that is unfortunate. I don't care who made the decision... I'm rooting for the Reds, not Wayne or Walt.

    Stanton/Castro.

They might just try and slip Anderson through waivers though.

Hasn't he had more success relieving than starting?
