My wife and I went down to the Main Library downtown this afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to see a new art exhibition titled Willie Mays: Art in the Outfield - about 30 pieces of the great Giants outfielder.
If you live here in town, break away from those winter blues and take in the warmth of art about the Say Hey Kid.
Willie Mays: Art in the Outfield
Fans of New York-San Francisco Giants superstar Willie Mays have long regarded him as “Baseball’s Greatest Living Player.” Local author Mike Shannon pays tribute to that legacy with the exhibit Willie Mays: Art in the Outfield. The exhibit showcases contemporary artists’ representations of Willie Mays’ skill, fame, and love of the game. This artistic tribute was first curated as a traveling exhibit to honor Willie Mays’ 75th birthday. It will remain on view in the Main Library’s Atrium until March 20.
