    Add this....

Brandon Phillips will only hit 15-20 home runs and Gonzalez will put up #s more like his career average.

Votto won't start because he'll be hitting around .250 (why did his average drop 20 points last year?)

Griffey will get hurt and won't be very effective anyway as age finally catches up to him.

Ross proves that his .200 average wasn't a fluke.

I think I'll prefer to ignore this thread and go read the one that says a national columnist calls the Reds the surprise team of 2008, thankyouverymuch.

What the h*ll is pre-season for if not optimism?
I have a love-hate relationship with Albert Pujols. Mostly hate.

David, I think you need to change the manufacturer of your crystal ball. Try to get your money back if you can.

Seriously though, let's watch several games at least before all the gloom and doom. The Reds will be better, fundamentally if nothing else but I hope for more than that and for the first time in a long time, I'm super excited about watching the mega-talented kids coming up and seeing the players busting their tail for Dusty Baker!

I think some of us have seen Dusty Baker manage plenty, my opinion comes from that (I get the feeling the David Cubbedge, Baseclogger, and myself have anyway) I have no reason to believe this leopard will change it's spots. Plus, I've always been one to avoid the rush, I started not liking him a long time ago
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

I still like this team a lot. But we have to try and face possibilities here. Surely I am not in left field on these predictions. I should have made them in a checklist format so I can check them off as they happen.

So many of my comments were negative toward the team. But as I stated earlier, every team in baseball will have its shortcomings. But can they still contend with all this around them?

Hey, it may be pessimistic, but it would nice to be losing with young, talented, players with high ceilings, rather than other teams retread veterans!

Votto hit 300 with 25 HRs and finishes 3rd in Voting for ROY
Bailey wins 16 games and finishes 2nd in ROY voting

    Philips repeat 30 30
    Affeldt is in the PEN
Volquez is our 5 but pitches far better than a 5
    EE has breakout year
Griff is healthy and hit 300 with 40 HR
    Dunn hit 50 dingers
    Gonzo has career year
Cueto minor league pitcher of the year
    Dunn signs long term
Griff signs a 2 yr contract and is rejuvenated and healthy
    breaks the 700 hr plateau

If you are in left field make sure Dunn is wearing his glove on the correct hand.
