You missed Lars Anderson at 28. He's just nuts.

I hope I'm not too late for the "Bash Kieth Law" party. Cuz I'm always down for that sorta thing.

Who is Carlos Triunfel and why is he ahead of Rick Porcello, Joey Votto, Johnny Cueto...?! If I was a 17 years old, dominican, and played shortstop, I'm pretty sure I'd end up in Kieth Law's top 50.

The kid has ability and tools, but he is still a lot of projection. He would make my top 50, but not ahead of any of the guys you mentioned who all are in my top 25.

Re: And for todays daily laugh here's Keith Laws top 100 prospect list

Law chatted yesterday on his list. Here are some pertinent questions, either about the Reds, names brought up during the KLaw bashing session, or just interesting ones overall. Enjoy.

Erbe, Milwaukee: No Jermey Jeffress or Escobar from the Brewers in your top 100...why not, they are in the top 50 in most other rankings I have seen.

Keith Law: This is a good time to answer the generic question: I really don't give a crap about where players rank in other rankings. I don't consider them when doing my own rankings, and it doesn't bother me if I'm really high on a guy no one else likes. I go see players, I evaluate them, and I rank them. That's it. Jeffress is a one-pitch guy who's athletic and has decided that he'd rather smoke dope than play pro baseball. He's not a top 50 prospect - that is INSANITY. He's the new Pete Stonard.
Jon Doe Cardinal fan : you had Mitchell Boggs on the list ahead of other cardinals prospects like Chris Perez rhp, Bryan Anderson c, Jaime Garcia lhp, Adam Ottavino rhp, and Pete Kozma ss. are you high on Boggs or not believer in the others?

Keith Law: I am definitely high on Boggs, and I think I'm relatively low on the other guys, although Garcia would have been ahead of Boggs if I was sure he was 100% healthy. I don't think Anderson's a catcher, I think Ottavino's a reliever, I thought Kozma was a good utility player in the draft (but he is very young to consign him to that bin), and as I said earlier Perez's control is a problem.
Fred, Columbus: Re: Homer Bailey? "he'll give the Reds the true No. 1 starter they've been looking for." Still no love for Harang? Name 5 #1's in the NL better than him.

Keith Law: Santana, Webb, Penny, Hamels, Oswalt, Peavy. I win.
Ryan (PA): Wow Longoria over Bruce? I guess you can't go wrong with either but if Bruce can play CF he will be pretty valuable.

Keith Law: I don't see him as an average CF. He'll be good in RF, though.
Marc (Quincy Ma): Duran over Brignac? Duran a year older, much better hitter park(2nd in TEXAS lg) and much better hitting league. Brignac improved his BB and K%'s this season, and by all account will stay at SS. How can Duran be ranked higher?

Keith Law: That is some seriously selective arguing. Brignac improving certain indicators does not mean that he's now better than another player; it means he's better than he himself was last year.
Dunnie - Boston: I saw you had Lars Anderson raked 28th and I'm hoping you give me some idea who he might compare to and when you think he will arrive in the big leagues. Thanks

Keith Law: Probably two years away, should be a patience/power bat who hits 4th or 5th in a big-league lineup.
rad (Wayne, NJ): What were the top 5 best teams farm systems? Rays, Yanks, Sox?

Keith Law: Rays, Rangers, Sox, Yanks, Reds.
Jon (DC): Hey Keith, Just wondering which team you think has the best "top 5?" Not the best system as a whole, just limited to the top 5 in the system. Thanks.

Keith Law: Reds have the best top 4. Might be the Rays if you go 5.
Jack (Cincinnati): What's your opinion on Drew Stubbs & Todd Frazier?

Keith Law: Not a big fan of either. Stubbs has had major trouble catching up to average stuff, although I understand he had an issue with his vision that was finally resolved late in the season. Frazier has a huge hitch in his swing, and I think he ends up in LF.
Dan (Hell): How about a projection for the 2009 Top 10?

Keith Law: Kershaw, Snider, Fernando Martinez, Jennings, McCutchen, Wieters, Wade Davis, Price, Vitters, Triunfel. Candidates to jump to #1 overall would include Martinez, Davis, Price, Wieters, Triunfel, Porcello, maybe Austin Jackson.

What's up with Stubbs' vision? This guy is a walking calamity.

Between he and Votto is sounds like the Reds need a better optometrist in the organization.

I'm guessing Law has no idea what he's talking about.

However, if he's right, it's good.

apparently he can't count, either. He named SIX #1's...

    Who actually likes Brad Penny?

Just because he can name guys doesn't actually mean they are better.

Remember guys Harang is the only pitcher in MLB history to lead 2 of the 3 triple crown categories for pitchers categories and not win the cy young.

I can't stand Keith Law. Law and I have exchanged emails once and that didn't go to well. He's so Anti-Cincinnati it's not even funny. Take what he says as a grain of salt because that's all it is.

    Votto # 56

Guy is a laugh a minute
I don't agree with his ranking's or anything he has to say really, but at least he does his own ranking and doesn't just go with the norm.

Votto at 56 would have been fine if Barton wasn't 38. There is no reason to have them 20 spots apart.

I find it hard to get all bent out of shape about Top 100 lists anyway. All they are is to incite conversation, and most of the time they are wrong anyway, when you go back several years later and look. I have all of the BA Prospect Handbooks going back to 2001, and my brother and I had a good laugh last month looking at the 2001 & 2002 handbook's top 30 prospects for each team and Top 100 list.
