    Your favorite newly discovered bands

One of my favorite things to do is listening to music that I've never heard before. There's nothing like hearing great music for the first time. I'm always up for some new tunes.

Over the last year, what are your favorite 3-5 groups/individuals that you've never heard before (could be a new band or one you just haven't heard before)?

    My top 4 would be:

    Silversun Pickups
    Band of Horses
    Angels and Airwaves
    Brandi Carlisle

I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine is best friends with Hank Williams III.

As for bands, I knew of them before, but I just got the new CD (their second) from Rooney, an LA-based band. Fairly modern rock sound, but with a healthy dose of 70s and 80s influence.

If you have Directv, their performance at The Roxy in LA is playing on channel 101 this month.

Wow I was going to come in here to say Band of Horses also.

Imogen Heap is my other one.

Well, I search for new music constantly....a few bands I found before they got big, such as The Fray...

Onerepublic is picking up momentum, but I started listening to them when they were only on myspace with no CD out...

Melee I have been listening to for a little while, but still like them

    Nevertheless I just found recently

Forever The Sickest Kids is another I just found.

Pandora.com is a great place to find new music.

A band that I found recently that I'm liking a lot is Saving Abel. I just got their Indie release and its excellent. They are coming out with a major label release sometime in March that should be very good. The single from it, "Addicted" will definately be a hit, IMO.

I just discovered The Avett Brothers ...like 5 minutes ago. I think I dig 'em.

INXS, I can't believe I didn't start listening to them before. They have some great songs. But I prefer their original singer than their new one. It's a shame he died at a young age he really was talented.
