Paul Bako and Scott Sauerbeck sign minor league contracts with Reds

Just heard this reported by Seg Dennison on 700WLW.
    Nothing wrong with more competition.

At least Bako won't get to hit against us. Like all back up cathers, he kills us.

    Veteran presence.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

I don't expect much from either but you never know. At least Krivsky is working the phones.
Interestingly enough Bako was drafted by the Reds in the 5th round of the 1993 amateur draft and Sauerbeck was born November 9, 1971 in Cincinnati and went to Miami U. in Oxford.

Well, there was kind of a drop-off from the two ML guys to Hannigan. Bako should be a more viable option in case of an injury.

Could Sauerbeck mean that they're prepared to write off Stanton?

Interesting...The Reds sign Scott Sauerbeck shortly after creating an alcohol free area at GAB...for his lady friend, maybe?

Didn't Sauerbeck come to camp with us once before?

Not a big deal to be made. The contracts are "minor-league."

Meet the new Chad Moeller, same as the old Chad Moeller.
I hope it's never sunny in Philly again.
