    Merck is the man. I know him decently well, and all we did this past summer was talk about Reds stories. He talked all summer about making a comeback, and I'm happy for him.

    Not that everyone here wasn't predicting it, but he was the one that fed me the info that Jerry was getting fired. The guy has some really cool stories.

    Agreed FreelFan, there is no risk in such a move and it would be a good experience for the younger pitchers to work next to him. Good move WK

    I say dump the Stanton Man altogether. I would take Mercker anyday over that guy. Stanton is 86 years old and is horrible in the 8th inning as of late. DFA his old tail.

    I had no idea he was that old. It really is no wonder why he struggled so badly. I'd ask why he's still pitching at this age but we all know of the perils of Spcial Security.
