jojo made a good point that Homer Bailey gets more interesting with every year that passes without an arm injury.
I've always thought the kid is talented if enormously overrated. I actually think he might become more interesting dependent on how he comes through a couple of tough years. He's in the midst of what tend to be trying times for young pitchers. Do I believe in Homer Bailey? Well, I'm sure he exists. We'll get to find out how successful a pitcher he can in the coming years.

My excitement is tempered by the fact that he also gets more disappointing with every year that passes where he is unable to command a 3rd pitch reliably or keep his walks under control.
I'm thrilled he saw the bigs injury-free -- that is about as big a moral victory as you can have. I don't think it's "hating" on Homer to demand better performance than a +5 BB/9 and a sub-6 K/9 from your top pitching prospect. He was average at AAA in 2007 and outright sucked in the bigs; any talk of groin injuries is merely mitigation of that fact.
Homer has a lot to prove in 2008. I don't doubt the talent is there (they don't just hand out slots on the Top-10 list at BA), and I never expected the ride to be smooth, but the kid needs to show improvement in key areas for me to continue being optimistic about his future as a contributing member of the Reds.
One thing I think nobody would disagree with: the team did him zero favors by exposing him to the majors before he was ready.

Bailey's AAA peripherals indicated he'd finally hit a level where hitters were advanced enough to avoid being K'd routinely by a dominant fastball. His BB/9 indicated that AAA hitters were recognizing his wildness and responding with patience at the plate. They suggested that Bailey had a greater need than ever to work a third pitch into his arsenal and to throw strikes early in the count -- both things that proved to be problematic for him in the majors. The place to work on those things is AAA, not the majors.
From a purely business standpoint, his exposure to the majors injected a dose of reality into what was, otherwise, a total lovefest surrounding his potential. It makes me wonder if the Bedard trade talks would've been different if the Reds were dangling "Homer Bailey, Phenom-in-Waiting" c2007 spring v. "Homer Bailey, Kid-With-Some-Stuff-To-Work-On" c2008.
The proper move (and I admit, I was one of those clamoring to see what he had last season) was to keep him in the minors and wait to bring him north until he had command of a third pitch and/or his peripherals (esp. K/9 and BB/9) reached true "dominant" levels.
