I just don't get it.

Having as much taxes withheld as possible from every paycheck so you "get a big return" next April.

The addiction to texting via cell phones. My company has a rule restricting cell phones to designated areas only and after three warnings I actually had to place an employee on corrective action for habitually using their cell phone for texting.
Corporate layoffs following consistent down-cycles that use tenure as the guide rather than performance. Yeah, using "tenure" is less likely to get you sued, but it's also more likely to continue your downward spiral as the work done by potentially excellent employees gets re-distributed to others who are also possibly your real problem. I'll never be able to figure out how putting more on the plate of someone who's already less competent is anything but an absolutely awful idea. Cutting costs isn't going to fix the problem. Improving productivity will, and that means making an effort to retain your best people without regard to how long they've been there.
