George Clooney Gets an Offer From Dayton

    http://www.abcactionnews.com/enterta...b-478ba8ca557a

    Actor offered baseball deal

George Clooney has been given the chance to live out his sporting dream and spend the summer playing baseball.

The movie star was offered a contract to play for Ohio minor league team the Dayton Dragons during a recent TV interview with top producer Peter Guber, who owns the team.

The Batman producer threw Clooney a curveball on cable show Shootout, hurling him a team hat and pitching him the chance to play baseball.

Guber said, "We're ready to sign you up, anytime you're ready."

The offer isn't as bizarre as it seems. Clooney was considered a prospect for Ohio's major league team the Cincinnati Reds when he was a teenager.

Clooney is a little old for the league isn't he?

Wonder how the Reds would feel about that one given that he would take up a roster spot for a player and any time he actually spent on the field would also take time from the development of a Reds player.....

They'd probably love it. The publicity and exposure the Reds organization would get from having George Clooney in their system is much more valuable than a season of development time for one of the lower tier prospects in low A ball. He'd be taking playing time from the filler, not the top prospects.

What about the top of the line bus he would rent for the team, the physical therapist you dang well know he would bring along for him and the team. Sorry but we both know he won't accept but if he did the pluses would far out way the negatives.

Two or 3 at bats isn't going to kill anybody. I actually enjoyed watching Garth Brooks make a fool of himself in ST. Brings a fun perspective back to the game.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Indeed, same with when Tom Selleck played with Detroit in spring training several summers ago.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I'd rather see him donate 10M to go towards pitching. How come these celebs don't have to pay three grand to get sunburned and pull hammies at Reds Heaven like the rest of us clods?
