    Will McEnaney and Rawly Eastwick

Will McEnaney and Rawly Eastwick -- two blasts from the past of the pitching core during the Reds Big Red Machine days of the 1970's. My question -- Does anybody know what they are up to nowadays and if they ever make any visits back in town to Cincy or maybe they never moved out. How come I never see them at the Big Red Machine Reunion shows, (they only have the 8 main guys most of the time, sometimes 9 if they can get Sparky) but wouldn't it be kinda cool if they could get most of the team together? I know they are planning a show here shortly I think near the end of the year aren't they for another reunion now wouldn't it be nice to add a few more to this list....

Also, the same questions, but what about Fred Norman, Pedro Borbon, and/or Clay Carroll anybody know what they are up to?

I believe that Will McEnaney lives in California.

Pedro lives on his farm in Texas.

I believe the correct thread title format is "WEHT: "

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Not sure about today, but I remmeber when this tragedy happened to Clay Carroll...

1985: Clay noticed that 26-year-old stepson Frederick Nowitzke had a shotgun in his hand and another gun strapped to his side. Clay grabbed Nowitzke, knocked him against the wall and took the shotgun away. Nowitzke then pulled out the other gun and shot Clay in the head. Although injured, Clay did not lose consciousness and heard more shots. After Nowitzke left, Clay discovered the bodies of his wife Frances and 11-year-old son Bret lying on the floor. Frances had a gunshot wound in the back of her head; Bret had a gunshot wound in his right temple and another in his left flank. Frances and Bret both died from the head injuries. Clay was hospitalized for several weeks, but recovered following surgery for a fractured jaw. Witnesses testified that several months before the shootings, Nowitzke began acting strangely. He was sure people were watching him; he talked about a black raven-type bird that followed him everywhere; he made "weird and bizarre" statements; he appeared suicidal and was obsessed with a lake, continually remarking that the bottom of the lake was calling to him and that there was a doorway through the lake. Witnesses who saw Nowitzke on the day before the shootings testified that he was worse than usual. They observed that he was unresponsive, detached, and confused.

Re: Will McEnaney and Rawly Eastwick

several years ago...'89 or '90 I think...I was in Orlando and went to one of the now defunct "senior" league games. The West Palm Beach Tropics played the Orlando Juice and McEnaney was on the Tropics and after the game I got them to pull McEnaney off the bus so I could meet him. Funny 'cause he seemed genuinely surprised that anyone would actually want to meet him or even recognize him.

These guys should never underestimate the useless knowledge of a diehard fan.

That league was great fun btw...met Dick Williams, Mickey Rivers, Ken Reitz, and some others that night...kinda like a minor league atmosphere

Both McEnaney and Eastwick were at the reunion shows I attended back in the early 90's. Mc Enaney actually left a nice impression on me because while it was a very hectic situation signing items for thousands of people he was by far the most friendly of all the BRM that were there. In fact he told me that he couldnt find a copy of the SI cover he was on after the 75' series. He said he had to drive all over town looking for one. He also mentioned that he was a painting contractor working in southern Florida. I am not sure if he is still doing that or not.

Will McEnaney hasn't aged at all.

He pops up from time to time on shows about the Reds whether it's ESPN or FSN or whatnot. I hear he's a pretty private guy.

Rawly Eastwick fell off the face of the earth after the Reds traded him to St Louis.

McEnaney was one of the nicest Reds at the Reds camp that I attended. I sat in a bar with him one evening and he talked with me for a couple of hours. He loves baseball and people.
