Interesting Pitcher Cards using Pitch/Fx Data

    Some highlights:
    - Volquez's top two comps are Lincecum and Verlander
    - Cordero's top comp is Bill Bray
    - Aaron Harang's comps include Gary Majewski at #4

The one thing people have yet to figure out is how to integrate the location data with the movement data. That said, this kind of work really shows that simply having certain stuff is hardly predictive of success. There's a lot more to successful pitching than making the ball move at a certain speed and in certain directions.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Noticed that Affeldt profiled similar to Beckett, Peralta, Burnett and Bedard

"Sometimes, it's not the sexiest moves that put you over the top," Krivsky said. "It's a series of transactions that help you get there."
