Who do you WANT to be on the 25 man roster?
What do you think the 25 man roster on Opening Day will ACTUALLY be?
Who do you WANT to be on the 25 man roster?
What do you think the 25 man roster on Opening Day will ACTUALLY be?
I want the Opening Roster to look like this:
1B Joey Votto
2B Brandon Phillips
SS Alex Gonzalez
3B Edwin Encarnacion
LF Adam Dunn
CF Jay Bruce
RF Ken Griffey Jr.
C David Ross/Javier Valentin
Bench:
1B Scott Hatteberg
INF Jeff Keppinger
OF Ryan Freel
C Javier Valentin/David Ross
OF Norris Hopper
Rotation:
Aaron Harang
Bronson Arroyo
Matt Belisle
Edinson Volquez
Homer Bailey/Johnny Cueto/Matt Maloney
Bullpen:
Bill Bray/Jeremy Affeldt
Todd Coffey
Jon Coutlangus
David Weathers
Josh Roenicke
Jared Burton
Francisco Cordero
I would love to see an upgrade at C though I doubt that happens.
I would be extremely satisfied if it shook out that way, OBM.
Now, what are the chances that is the roster we actually get?
I think we'll see this:
1. Harang
2. Arroyo
3. Fogg
4. Belisle
5. Volquez
6. Cordero
7. Weathers
8. Affeldt
9. Burton
10. Coutlangus
11. Bray,
12. Roenicke
13. Votto
14. BP
15. AGon
16. EdE

18. Griffey
19. Dunn
20. Lofton
21. Freel
22. Hopper

1B Joey Votto
2B Brandon Phillips
SS Alex Gonzalez

LF Adam Dunn
CF Freel
RF Ken Griffey Jr.
C David Ross
Bench:
1B Scott Hatteberg
INF Jeff Keppinger

I think Bruce goes to AAA and they sign a RH bat to back up the OF and 1B. Stanton is cut. Castro and Bray are on the DL to start.

I have to admit, after Jay Bruce was untouchable, I am going to be disappointed if he isn't the FULL TIME starting CF. I still predict that JR will start the season on the DL and Bruce will play RF and Hopper will play CF.
pessimist much? Jr. is fine.
what I think SHOULD be the OD roster...
Starting 8
1B Votto
2B BP
3B EE
SS Agon
LF Dunn
CF Bruce
RF Jr.
C Ross (ugh)
Rotation
Harang
Arroyo

Pen
Cordero
Weathers
Burton
Cout
Affeldt
Roenicke
Coffey
Bench
Hatte
Kepp

Freel.
What I think we'll see is close except Freel/Hopper is in CF and maybe Dickerson is the 25th man.
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
You guys really think we'll avoid seeing Stanton make the OD roster? Unfortunately, I just really doubt that happens.
The original question was WANT - from previous months' posting it would appear that Stanton would be one of REDSZONE most unwanted. As for whether he is actually there I really think it will come down to the health of Bray, effectiveness of Coutlangus and Affeldt.
I would agree with most of the wants other than I would prefer to see McBeth over Coffey at this stage.
What I think We Will See:
1. Harang
2. Arroyo
3. Belisle
4. Fogg
5. Volquez
6. Cordeo
7. Weathers
8. Burton

9. Affeldt
10. Fogg

I fully expect to see Maloney, Cueto, and Bailey sent to the minors regardless of performance and I also fully expect Coffey to be released or traded. Castro, one of Wayne's favorites will make the team as will Stanton. You can't beat that veteran presence, can you?
Bray will be lost for the season or at least until the All-Star break, and Majewski will stink up the bullpen so much, he'll be gone by the end of May. Easy predictions, IMHO.
