    Eagles Cut Kearse

He's a DE. We need a DE. He's only 31. But, would he actually want to come to Cincinnati?

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles have cut ties with Jevon Kearse.

The Eagles cut the former rookie of the year Thursday. The 31-year-old defensive end failed to live up to the lofty expectations after he signed as a free agent in 2004.

Kearse recorded 3½ sacks in 14 games last season and saw his playing time diminish late in the year. He missed most of the 2006 season after suffering a knee injury in Week 2.

Early in his career, Kearse was one of the most feared pass rushers in the league. He tallied 36 sacks in his first three seasons and earned NFL Rookie of the Year honors in 1999.
