The Louisville Bats defeated West Division rival Indianpolis today, 3-1.

Adam Pettyjohn started for the Bats and picked up the win, throwing four scoreless innings. He struck out three and allowed one hit. Richie Gardner also pitched four shut-out innings, walking two and striking out two while giving up one hit. Scott Sauerbeck earned the save, allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning.

On offense, Jay Bruce led the Bats attack, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Drew T. Anderson, Luis Bolivar, Armando Rios and Alvin Colina each had a hit for Louisville today.

The Bats have a camp day Tuesday and play Indianapolis for the fourth time on Wednesday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Sarasota.

Indians Fall to Bats, 4-1

The Louisville Bats defeated the Indianapolis Indians, 4-1, today in Sarasota.

Major Leaguer Matt Belisle started for the Bats and allowed one run on three hits in three innings; he walked two and struck out two. Matt Maloney picked up the win, pitching five scoreless innings. The southpaw struck out five and walked one while giving up four hits. Marcus McBeth threw a scoreless ninth, striking out one while earning the save.

On offense, Ryan Hanigan and Jerry Gil both had RBI doubles, while Jay Bruce had a RBI triple. Hanigan and Armando Rios both had two hits, with Rios doubling twice. Luis Bolivar also drove in a Bats run.

Louisville plays Norfolk Thursday for their final home game of the spring. The Bats end their exhibition schedule with Indianapolis on Friday for their fifth meeting with the Indians.

Bats Defeat Tides, 10-4

The Louisville Bats played the Norfolk Tides for the fourth time this spring and defeated them 4-1 this afternoon.

Tom Shearn, who has been with the Bats since 2004, started and picked up the win. He allowed two unearned runs on one hit in four innings. Shearn walked one and struck out two. Chris Michalak (two innings) and Scott Sauerbeck (one inning) each allowed one run. Jon Adkins and Jon Coutlangus gave up no runs as they pitched the eighth and ninth innings.

The Bats pounded out 12 hits versus Tides pitchers today. There were 10 different players getting at least one hit and six different players drove in at least one run. Adam Rosales and Luis Bolivar each had two-hit games; Bolivar had two doubles and three RBI on the afternoon. Jerry Gil blasted a solo home run and Kevin Barker had two RBI and a double. Louisville finishes up their spring schedule Friday with a game versus West Division rival Indianapolis in Bradenton. The Bats open the 2008 regular season April 3 with an eight-game road trip to Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The first home game of the season is April 11 with the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Bats Win Final Game of the Spring, 4-2, Versus the Indians

The Louisville Bats won their final game of Spring Training with a 4-2 victory versus the Indianapolis Indians.

Justin Lehr started for the Bats and picked up the win. He allowed two hits and no runs in four and two-thirds innings. Gary Majewski gave up the Indians' only two runs in one and two-thirds innings, he struck out two and walked none. Marcus McBeth pitched a scoreless inning, allowing two hits while walking one. Ricky Stone earned the save, pitching one and two-thirds of scoreless ball.

Chris Dickerson was the hitting star for the Bats as he went 4-for-5 with a double and RBI. Paul Janish had two hits and also doubled and drove in a run.

The Bats have workouts that are free and open to the public March 31 (3:00 p.m.) and April 1 (1:00 p.m.) before they start the 2008 season. Louisville opens on April 3 with an eight-game road trip to Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The team's ninth home opener at Louisville Slugger Field is April 11 at 7:05 p.m. when the Bats take on the Pawtucket Red Sox.
