    Question about the 1990 Reds

I was just looking through some old schedules and box scores from past Reds teams on BaseballReference.com and I came across the 1990 schedule and I noticed the Reds opened that season up on the road in Houston (they won 8-4 in 11 innings). As we all know it's always been tradition for the Reds to open the season in Cincinnati. I looked it up and it was the first time since 1966 the Reds opened on the road. Does anyone know what the reason behind this was?

Spring Training began late and therefore the season began late. The first week of the original schedule was postponed and re-scheduled.

... and then played 0.500 ball the rest of the year. If there was ever a team that demonstrated that pennants can be won in April, it was the 1990 Reds.

Tom Browning was the top earner at $2,125,000 with Eric Davis at $2,100,000.

As did the 1970 Reds, who started out 70-30, and finished 32-30, for a total of 102 wins.

Consider that the 2007 Reds had a total of 70 wins, which the 1970 squad had reached by the end of July.

I remember Larkin tripling in the game winner on that first night.

Barry was unconscious that first month.
