I was disappointed to have to choose between Bull Durham and Major League so early.

Bull Durham wins in a better movie contest, but Major League just feels so, I don't know, classic.

Hard to believe no one has mentioned this film-making masterpiece yet...

My Avatar probably gives me away, but I chose Pride of the Yankees over Major League. Field of Dreams and The Natural complete my Final Four.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I had a copy of an old Joe E Brown baseball comedy, made in 1935 and even had Olivia de Havilland (in her first appearance) in it, called Alibi Ike.

    On the drama side.....

Pride Of the Yankees and 61 (fantastic movie).

I didn't know they'd a movie of that story - a great one by Ring Lardner (who incidentally was a character in Eight Men Out, played rather stiffly by director John Sayles).

Fields of Dreams is my favorite movie of all-time. As a tradition every year I watch Field of Dreams on the Saturday night before Opening Day.
I had FOD over Fever Pitch. Fever Pitch beat out The Natural in the Final 4 for me. I just really like that movie.

I too, watch FOD before Opening Day. Awesome movie.

Just so you understand, i really won't be able to read anything you write without first filtering it through "He likes a Freddy Prinze Jr. movie."

If you look at pictures of Ring Lardner, Sayles is almost a dead ringer for him.

Not Freddy Prinze though! Sorry, thought it was a good movie for the obsessed baseball fan/guru. And to mix it into the whole girlfriend thing just seemed a lot like my life. My gf is with me every step of the way when it comes to my love for baseball. When he goes on one knee and proposes to her...to go to opening day with him, touched home a bit. Also, that movie was originally written that the die hard sox fan would be dissapointed again after the sox lose. Of course they won though and had to change the story on the fly. I thought it was pretty good. Many scenes stick out to being like me!

    Oh that? That's even worse.

    I was thinking Summer Catch.

It's hard to keep my terrible baseball movies apart.

While Summer Catch is not a good baseball movie by any stretch of the imagination, Jessica Biel is smoking hot in that movie. I watch Summer Catch for the same reason I watch the latest Dukes of Hazzard movie.

Nice pool scene if I recall.
