I think this is Volquez's 3rd appearance against Philly in the past three weeks or so IIRC.

I'd like to see Viola get an inning today.

Yup, and he may draw them week one of the season too. Not exactly ideal, them seeing him that much in such a short span of time.

Four times in four weeks against the same team? That's not ideal for any pitcher. From Sandy Koufax to Dave Williams, and everyone in-between.

spring training is for gathering information. in a small no. of games, we learn how a lineup reacts to a new pitcher, and how a lineup reacts to seeing a pitcher a few times.

    It's all good.

Hey, can someone do a Play-by-play for this game? ... I'm in particularly boring classes today and would really appreciate it ;-)

I'll try and take care of it, but I'm afraid work might get in the way.

Freel hits a fly out to right. 1 down, Patterson holds at 1st.

    Phillips steps in.

Kyle Kendrick paying a lot of attention to Patterson.

Phillips lines a single into right. C-Patt goes 1st to 3rd. Runners on the corners and 1 down with Dunn coming to the plate.

Marty says the Reds aren't exactly concerned with EE's ST, but they've been working "diligently" with him, putting in long hours and trying to get him out of this funk.
