Sounds like you've got a chance to land the lead in Romeo and Juliett. Of course, one of 'those other guys' may land the part of Juliett.
Sorry, just jokin' with ya'. Pick the school that you think you would be most comfortable with for the next four years. The academic program is important but a lot of the learning in college is not done in the classroom. It's also a time to grow and develope your interests in other things and a lot of that has to do with the people around you.
Go with where you think your heart would be happiest.

I have done many football games for the OAC conference, of which Otterbein and Wilmington are both members, and neither of them are a preeminent power in the league but Wilmington really is an awesome place. I was as disappointed as M2 to learn "Otters" was not the nickname for Otterbein College the first time I did a game there, likewise I was disappointed "Muskrats" was not Muskingum's, which is clearly better than Muskies. However, the standout nickname in the conference is undoubtedly Heidelberg: The Student Princes. Yes, the female teams are also called this.
I only play college baseball but from what I've seen going home and watching the old high school and recruiting some other guys for baseball, the speed of the game is much faster. Everyone's fast, and everyone's more disciplined. That goes for every sport from what I've seen. Good luck.
"The Hall of Fame is there to keep alive the memory of people. You don't need to do that with people like Buck [O'Niel] and Joe [Nuxhall]. Nobody's forgetting those guys."
- Joe Posnanski
I live in Columbus and I'm an English Professor here, so I'm pretty familiar with Otterbein. Both schools are pretty good academically. What it would come down to for me:
Where do you want to live for the next 4+ years?
Otterbein is in Westerville, which is a large suburb of a really big city. There's lots of stuff to do here. There's great shopping and nightlife, etc. pretty close to Westerville. We have a pretty vibrant downtown (Short North, OSU Campus, German Village) that is not far away from Westerville even if you don't have a car.
Wilmington is in the middle of cornfield nowhere. If you wanted to go anywhere, you'd have to drive to Dayton, Cincinnati, or Columbus. On the other hand, Wilmington is much closer to the Reds. That might swing it in my favor
But really, I'd way rather live in Westerville than Wilmington. But that's just me.
"Even a bad day at the ballpark beats the snot out of most other good days. I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me." Roy Tucker October 2010
Let's make some noise!
I did some substitute teaching for the Westerville City Schools a few years back and really liked the town. Otterbein is a good school and you will find plenty to occupy your time in Columbus. Living in Columbus was not my cup of tea, but if I were in college it definitely would have been.
As I see it, you can't go wrong either way. Though I did like your idea of walking on at Marshall best.
like was said before, its the speed and strength of the players that is the biggest difference from H.S. I played baseball, but was a frequent attendee for our football games. Obviously at Mount, the difference is a bit greater, but DIII is still a big step up from even a decent D1 program that I played high school ball in. Make sure you get a work out program from the coaching staff for the summer and follow it, it will make a difference
I'm an Otterbein alumnus, so I'll admit my bias.
There's much more to do in Westerville than there is in Wilmington. There's much more to do in Westerville now than there was when I was at Otterbein back in the 80s. If I had to move back to Columbus today, I'd probably choose to live in Westerville.
Neither Otterbein nor Wilmington has a particularly storied football tradition. Basketball has been a bigger deal at Otterbein than football for years. Figure that sharing a conference with Mount Union pretty much rules out postseason play in football.
Since you're choosing between D-III schools, you're not likely to be playing football after college. So I'd suggest basing your decision on the school's strength in your major. Ask the admissions people for help digging into the details of or even arranging a visit to the academic department of your likely major at each school.
