...and where did I say he would SLG .600?
Kepp could OPS 1.000 from the SS position and wouldn't deserve the AS spot over Ramirez, true.

OB .400 is crazy rare. That's all I'm saying. But the thread did say bold predictions.

No cheap hot dog or half price ticket promotions.

With the Reds in contention most of the year the cheap promotions won't be needed!!

FWIW, 28 players had an OBP of .390 or better last season with at least 300 at-bats. That doesn't include Mr. Keppinger, who fell short of the 300 at-bat requirement...

Aaron Harang wins 20 and still only gets 3 votes for the Cy Young. Johan Santana wins the award before they throw the first pitch on Opening Day.

I'll predict that Joey Votto has a huge season (25+ HR, 80+ RBIs, 20 SB).

Adam Dunn is traded before July 31. (I just can't see him staying around for the entire season if the Reds aren't willing to give him that extension before the season. I hope I am wrong.)

The Reds will be near/or at the .500 mark at the All Star break. Marty will begin his campaingn for Dusty as Manager Of The Year. (the rest of the local media will follow suite).

There will come a time during the season this club looses three or four games in a row. While the pitching staff gives up double digits in runs scored, Marty and Jeff will lay the blame at the feet of the teams batting average with runners in scoreing position. (the rest of the local media will follow suite).

We all know that errors are part of the game, this club will not go through the season without making errors. Marty and the local media will nail Edwin and Dunn to the cross for committing any such miscue.

Jeff Brantley will tell us whenever David Wheathers gives up a basehit on an 0-2 pitch that he's going right at the hitter and challenging him by throwing strikes. The Cowboy will then tell us whenever Belisle or Coffey give up a basehit on an 0-2 pitch that they choke and lack mental toughness.

Most of us will cling to every word of information we can get from the radio brodcast and local media because we are Reds Fans. Sure we will moan and groan but we will be right back here next year and the year after.

We can't help ourselves we love baseball and we love the Reds.

This is the quote of the year.

At some point, the team (and many of its fans) will fall in love with a career minor leaguer for no apparent reason other than the fact that he seems to be running really hard when he does things.

Aaron Harang starts the season on a slump and ends the year with an ERA around 4.50. The new Reds' ace is declared to be Edinson Volquez.

The Reds will have a significantly better second half than first. They'll still finish third in the NL Central.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

    - Todd Coffey will have the best year of any righty in the pen this side of Cordero
    - Brandon Phillips will regress to something like .270/.320/.420
    - Junior will not get 400 PA
    - Volquez will be our 2nd most effective starter
    - The Reds will be clearly out of the playoffs by late August

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Stanton released, but Coffey/Weathers are so bad that we nickname them the New Stanton Twins

end of year third baseman: Adam Rosales

end of year CFer: Drew Stubbs

we discover that Adam Dunn really did have trade value

Josh Hamilton wins MVP and suffers his first heart attack

Juan Duran's severe struggles make him a board lightning rod (oh, wait-- that's not until next year)

I thought these were supposed to be bold predictions?

Bill Bray is the Reds' best reliever not named Cordero.
Jay Bruce doesn't see Cincinnati until September.
Alex Gonzalez comes back and has another surprisingly good season with the bat. Just like last year, nobody notices.
Cueto doesn't get to 150 IP.

Roenicke will be brought up from the minors by June 1st and will be closer by the end of the season. Well, you wanted bold didn't you?
