    Gammons

Gammons starts the year off with a piece about Lastings Millige. It is mainly about how this is a new start for him and details some of the things that happened in New York that may have contributed to him getting off on the wrong foot. Then he gave some points why Washington will be better for him with the first being "he doesn't have to be the face of the franchise" because Ryan Zimmerman fills that role.
I was just wondering at what point he overtood David Wright and Jose Reyes as the face of the Mets?

Sounds like what they said when Kearns was traded to Washington.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

he doesn't have the expectations that he would have if he played in New York. That's basically what I took from it.
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton

Of course, Zimmerman hit the walk-off HR tonight, so that may be your answer.
