    Scott Williamson

I noticed that back at the beginning of the month, the Giants released Scott Williamson outright it appears. Not saying that the Reds should go after him, but does anybody know if he caught on with another team or what is going on with him or what he is up to? I tried to do a search to see if there was another more recent thread on this, but for some reason, the search option wasn't working for me correctly. So can anybody be of assistance here? I am a Williamson fan and would like to see him succeed and come back from his injuries and pitch at least decent again somewhere. So does anybody happen to know if he at least got on in the Minors somewhere? Thanks in advance!!!!

Looks like he is still a free agent and not with any team.

So, I have been keeping somewhat of an eye out there, and I haven't seen his name come up much at all. Did he end up signing with anybody or is he still looking for work or is he still rehabing or does anybody know? Hopefully he was able to land somewhere as he has been through a lot and I would really like to see him succeed again....

So basically, has he signed on with anybody that anybody knows of?

It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

    He's trying another comeback.

Former National League Rookie of the Year Scott Williamson is hoping to spend the winter pitching in Mexico. Williamson won ROY honors in 1999 after going 12-7 with 19 saves and a 2.41 ERA for the Cincinnati Reds. Now 34, the 6’0” righty spent nine seasons in the majors, fashioning a 28-28 record with 55 saves and a 3.36 ERA (with 510 strikeouts in 439 innings) before arm miseries derailed his career.

I'm sorry, but the whole "going to Mexico to revive his career" thing just cracked me up considering I just finished watching the second season of Eastbound and Down, featuring none other than Kenny Powers. (And BTW, that character HAS to be based on John Rocker. Starts his career in Atlanta, slowly has a meltdown, is a complete dbag, quickly out of MLB completely ... think about it. I mean, the character has grown to the point where it has nothing to do with Rocker. But I guarantee the writers had Rocker in mind when they came up with the character of Kenny Powers.)

I've read that Kenny Powers wasn't based on any one player in particular, because the creators (Danny McBride, Ben Best, and Jody Hill) weren't really baseball fans at all. They just based Powers on their perception of baseball players as gleaned from the headlines.

My daughter called me this morning. A friend from college who broadcasts the games for the Somerset Patriots, independent league team, called to tell her Scott Williamson was playing for them this season. Doesn't seem to be doing much this season and my guess is that he'll hang it up soon.

I noticed that Norris Hopper is playing for them too. I didn't realize that he was out of organized ball.

Jeez, Pedro Feliz sure fell fast. I mean he was never very good at all but still.
