Soto going north with the Reds....

    From Fay's Blog:

Also, the Reds brought Mario Soto north with the team to help out with Johnny Cueto and Edinson Volquez. Smart move.
I can't find my previous post (I started a thread) but about a week ago I suggested that the Reds should do this. Seems as though somebody might be reading Redszone.

He does. Last year he only made it about 4- 6 weeks at Louisville. Soto coming north is more than likely for that same amount of time. My suggestion to Mario is to hire some help!
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

Heck, the Reds should hire the help for him if need be. Bring his wife and kids to Cincy for the season and put em up in a grand suite, fly em back and forth at will, do whatever. Buy him a shuttle jet. I'm only being half facetious here. Soto has shown himself a good teacher but his presence in the DR can't be overlooked either. The Reds are getting some quality players from there finally & I think Soto has more to do with that than anything or anyone else in the Reds org. If Cueto, Volquez, Junior Martinez, Juan Duran, Pedro Viola, Juan Francisco, et al, pan out and guys like this kep signing through Soto's influence and scouting via his academy then Mario Soto may become more important to Reds history in his current role than he was as a pitcher. And I have the highest regard for Mario Soto the pitcher.
