    7 IP 5H 1R 1ER 1BB 2K 1HR 1.29 ERA I can live with that type of pitching line.

BTW, Homer has set down the last 10 batters he has faced.

Nice outing for Homer. I'd like to see more strikeouts but the walk total and only one run allowed is impressive.

Two things you can count on are the sun rising in the east and Majewski giving up base hits. He comes on to start the 8th and gives up a base knock to the first batter he faces.

Yup. K's gotta improve, but I figure as he settles in and gets stronger, they will rise. The bb/9 is terrific however. Exactly what we want to see.

I think the Verlander development path is the one for Homer. Verlander put up a rediculous amount of k's in low A but fell back to 9 k/9 in his 30I's after getting promoted in 2005. I bet if he started the year in AAA as Homer did(22), he would have put up a k/9 under 8.

It wasn't to last year Verlander finally put it all together at 24. I think Homer doesn't need to k alot of people to help the Reds. Verlander's 2006, his k/9 at the majors was a skimpy 6. Though, with the Reds defense, which probably wasn't as good as the Tigers, is a problem.

2 hits and a run so far in 2/3's of an inning for the magic man. =(
He escapes without further damage. End 8 Bats trail 2-0.

Bruce just singled to lead off the 9th. He's 1-for-4.

    Promising line.

Honestly if, and I know its a big if, but if Cueto and Volquez are the real deal, Homer doesn't have to K people, he just needs to get them out.

Majewski can get lit up all he wants so long as the damage occurs in a 'bats uniform rather than a Reds uniform. Heck, the more he gets lit up the less likely the Reds are to bring him back up, and that's a good thing for our bullpen.

If I'm under the right impression, isn't Bailey supposed to be working more on his secondary stuff? If so, that would easily explain the lack of strikeouts, as well as the better command.

I sure hope that's the case, because it would definitely help his psyche to see success like todays without trying to overpower hitters all of the time.

So what is it we want.... Bailey to gain control and work on stuff, or him to go out and try to strike everyone out? The two things don't go hand in hand most of the time.
