    REDS WIN!!

The third hit by catcher Dave Van Gorder was the game winner in the ninth as the Reds edged the Phils 4-3. The Reds tied the game in the eighth when outfielder Floyd Robinson homered. The Phils had taken the lead in the topof the eighth when first baseman Bill White homered. The starting pitchers for the Phils, Ray Herbert and for the Reds Bruce Berenyi pitched well. The Reds newly acquired closer Ben Hayes got the win. Unfortunately left hander Gred Cadaret surrendered the home run to White. Tomorrow the Phils go with Wayne Twitchell, the Reds counter with Erik Hansen

He's made a few threads about former Reds players that no one has heard about but other than that he's ok.

Actually Bruce Berenyi pitched in one of those games in which a pitcher did something I will never forget.
In his big league debut vs stros, he walked the first six batters before being pulled not retiring a batter.
Went on to be a pretty good pitcher for the reds.

Yes in fact, Scherrer relieved Marcus Moore and was preceeded by Dwayne Henry
Tim Birtsas was preceeded by Larry Leubbers, and followed by Steven Foster

I was actually just thinking today about a new stat....a "no-outer"...which would ideally be just as rare as a no hitter.

It would be obviously for a starting pitcher who records no outs. The only question is how many batters minimum would a pitcher have to face in order to earn the dubious "no-outer".

If memory serves me correctly I witnessed a Jeff Austin debacle about 4-5 years back.

Jeff Austin was money, I think in that game he permitted three homers in the fourst just like our hero Phil Dumatrait

This lineage does not bode well for Bill Bray.

Did Tom Foley or Tom Runnels play short?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
