    Phil Dumatrait sighting

Phil got brought in for the Pirates against the Cubs in the 13th inning today. He went 3 full, giving up 4 runs all earned, on 3 H, 4 BB, with 2 K. Good luck Phil! I hope we see you a few times this season.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I saw this same thing earlier tonight. Poor kid. At least he's getting a shot I guess. Just glad it isn't in a Reds uni (anymore)!

It's good that the Pirates are no longer run by people who struggle to identify quality major league talent.

The local paper had a picture of Dumatrait walking dejectedly off of the mound after this outing. It made me glad he was wearing a Pirates uniform instead of a red and white one.

In Dumatrait's defense he also threw 1 2/3 innnings scoreless the night before.
