Middle infielders usually go around 10. 3rd base maybe 11/12. Outfield is about 12/13 if I remember correctly.
If you're just going to be playing catch I'd go with a standard outfielder's glove.
sorry we're boring

I'd go for a 13 inch glove. That way you can use the glove for both baseball and softball. I have an outfielders glove for softball that's 14 inches. All I have to do is put my glove up in the vicinity of where the ball is and it snags it.

I still have my Rawlings Dale Murphy model I got in the mid-80s. I love that glove.

I'd definitely go on the bigger size. I've been using an 11" for softball and it's been killing me. Nice to have the versatility.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
I have a Rawlings Eric Davis glove that my neighbor gave me when I was like 13. A little small now, but damn does it feel great using it to catch a baseball.
Dude, RMR, you've gotta upgrade, man! What softball position do you play?
If you're an infielder, I'd go for a 13 inch. If you're an outfielder, I'd go for a 14 inch. I'm an outfielder, and my 14 inch glove is fantastic. It may seem big at first, but you'll adjust very quickly, especially once you realize how easy it is to haul in balls as a fly chaser.
