    Fun with Stats

    It's early, but....

Reds pitchers lead the majors in K's, and 2nd fewest in BB's.

Reds hitters lead the majors in BB's , bottom 3rd fewest k's.

    That, is exciting.

The just completed 3-game series in Milwaukee...

    * REDS batters draw 15 walks. Brewers batters get 2 walks.
    >> REDS starters (Cueto, Fogg Harang) do not walk a batter (19.1 IP).

That is a recipe for winning games.

    Re: Fun with Stats

here are more stats (not counting today's game):

as Lefthanded batters, Reds' OPS is .836
as Righthanded batters, Reds' OPS is .688

(this trend continues one of the sharpest demarcations for the Reds. Last year these numbers were .862 as lefthanded batters, and .716 as righthanded batters)

OPS vs. LHPers: .674. OPS vs. RHPers: .781

(again, a continuation of last years': OPS vs. LHPers: .732; OPS vs. RHPers: .790)

last year, Reds OPSed .791 when leading off innings, which is a terrific performance. This year, that number is a paltry .668, which probably explains a lot of the problems scoring runs.

to lead off game, last year the Reds OPSed .664. This year, it's .833. At this point, don't blame Patterson...
