Dale Murray went 3.1 innings to get the save. You don't see three inning saves anymore, that's for sure.

Dale Murray became the fourth Reds reliever to record a save in the young season. The Reds were 7-1 at this point, and had recorded four saves in those seven wins. Dave Tomlin, Pedro Borbon, and Doug Bair had the other three.

I wish I could. The Reds traded Bill Gullickson straight up for him. I remember thinking "What the heck is this?" (I didn't use any bad language back then! ) I would much rather have kept Gullickson.

I remember not liking the trade, either - I thought Gullickson was destined for great things, while I am pretty sure I thought Dennis Rasmussen was actually Eric Rasmussen. And dealing with the Yankees was something I considered forbidden.
Ah well. The Reds did get the great Candy Sierra out of him.

I didn't know whether Gullickson was destined for greatness, but even at 17 years old, I knew that he was better than Dennis Rasmussen.
