On a side note, on this day in 1958 the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers made their debut in California. They played each other and the Giants won 8-0. Lefty Gomez pitched the shutout. The game was in San Francisco and the attendance, quite surprisingly, was only 23,448. I wonder if the Giants owner,Horace Stoneham, was second guessing himself for the move after seeing that.
