Imagine how much they would be worth if they had a recent trophy.

Meanwhile, check out the team that had the highest operating profit. I have a feeling that most of that profit went to new pairs of leather pants.

Washington is a potential sleeping giant, just like the Cubs were.

If they ever get the critical mass to be close to contending, they've got the market size and money to play with the big boys for awhlie.. that is, if the ownership really wants to win.

I found it amusing that Marty and Brantley were talking about the Cubs huge payroll, and acted as if the Cubs had little or no money to address some of their needs (like a LH hitter). The Cubs have plenty of money, they just have been sandbagging for the past decade or so (prior to 2007).
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Don't the Baltimore and Atlanta franchises present some problems for Washington insofar as potential is concerned?
