    Norris Hopper to DL

Per Mo Egger on WLW with Billy Cunningham.

Reason according to Mo was "right elbow soreness."

Is this the move that puts David Ross on the roster, or seperate?

I'd say it was the move. He was pretty clearly headed to AAA otherwise. This way they don't have to use an option -- yet.

I think Freel is going to be shopped VERY heavily in the next 15 days.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Ross up, Hopper to DL

Per team press notes. Hopper is being placed on the DL retroactive to Saturday with a right elbow inflammation. Nice to see the three catcher setup back, not sure how they survived with just two.

I have to say I'm surprised. I just couldn't see Javy Valentin surviving the day.

This gives Walt another week or so to sort out the catching situation. Maybe he can flip one of the three for something useful. Doubtful but we can hope.

I'm guessing that Javy Valentin is going to be on the way out.

With Votto hitting well, Hatteberg has become the team's first LH-PH option off the bench. Valentin's just taking up space, at this point.

for the time being I am not sure the Reds have a better PH option than Javy. I would say his days as a Red are numbered(same goes for Hopper)

LOL, I hope this "elbow" "injury" clears up soon. I wonder how he "hurt" himself.

Maybe he was actually swinging the bat instead of bunting.

That can cause an elbow injury? Crap, I better be more careful from now on.

I wonder if Marty will find the strength to go on the air today, what with such a real and unexpected tragedy befalling the greatest player the Reds have ever seen.

Not to nitpick but that point was reached two years ago. He should have been shipped out after the '06 season.

... instead he was given an extension. Signing replacement level players(or below) to extensions probably had a lot to do with the end of the line.

Guys like Castro, Valentin, Cormier, Freel, Coffey, etc are fungible.
