Buster Olney thinks Hatteberg could be sought to replace Delgado!!

    per mlb traderumrs.com

"Olney goes on to speculate that the Mets could release Carlos Delgado if he continues his weak hitting. Nady would seem a decent replacement, though he hasn't played first since 2006. Scott Hatteberg could be another option."

I cant imagine Hatteberg would be a better option over Delgado, but maybe Delgado is hurt and thats why he isnt hitting..

Move Hatteberg for a warm body at this point.

Any chance we could get them to take Griffey or Dunn?

Both have to approve any trade made at this point, so unless they want to go there, its not happening. Griffey has 5/10 rights and Dunn has a no trade clause until June 15th (I think thats the date).

I have no doubt that Griffey would approve a trade to the Mets. He's not going to turn down a chance to compete for a ring at this point.

Yeah, but would he also approve his having to play 1B for the Mets?

He certainly wouldn't play any of the OF positions for them.

Nope. But he might play LF.

BTW, that Lastings Milledge trade is looking pretty good for the Mets right now.

Will be interesting to see how WJ reacts in a potential sell-off mode. Might be unchartered waters for the man.

Interesting. Today, Delgado hit, not one, but two HR's. Think the Mets will still DFA him?
