Rumored meeting between Jocketty, Baker, and other FO members.

Heard from someone in chat today (I think it may have been Matt) that Jocketty scheduled a "big" meeting between himself, Baker, and some other FO personnel tomorrow. If true, what do you make of it? I think the obvious move is the Coffey/Bray switcheroo, but could there be more? My gut feeling? The obvious Bray/Coffey move and....Bruce gets the call. There I said it.

Any other "gut" feelings on this out there?

I would think such a meeting is exactly what everybody would expect in an organization that makes an attempt to keep lines of communication open. I don't think I'd read anything specific regarding player transactions into it.

It's not a "rumored" meeting. It's been reported and Marty mentioned it today too.

    Here's from yesterday's Enquirer:

I've got some (Reds front-office people) coming into St. Louis. I'm being brought up to speed on a lot of things."

    Just a guess but...

Walt is bringing the coffee and Dusty the bagels.

It's probably to decide who gets Krivsky's parking spot.

    Just wondering.....

What will Marty bring to the meeting?

Would Marty prefer that the meeting take place before OR after he plays golf?

Guessing it would be scheduled during his round of golf.

Re: Rumored meeting between Jocketty, Baker, and other FO members.

My guess is that the conclusion reached at the meeting is that they must trade Ken Griffey Jr. immediately for these five reasons:
    1) They have a top young RF (Bruce) who is ready now.
    2) They need to see how Adam Dunn performs without Griffey on the team before making a decision on Dunn. Without Griffey you simply bat Dunn in the best spot in the order for him, and that may be 3rd.
    3) Every day you don't trade him, you risk injury and being stuck with the $4MM buyout.
    4) Griffey is less likely to accept a trade if the Reds are closer to first place.
    5) He has slightly more trade value before he has reached 600 HRs. It would be a terrific PR splash for Seattle if they had Jr. hit that plateau on their team.

    That's my #1 priority if I'm GM.

I will be amazed if anything momentous or as granular as specific player moves is on the agenda for this meeting. It's probably more about making sure that everyone is on the same page with Jocketty and setting up some new procedures about information-sharing.

That's crazy. I'd bet any amount of money no discussion like that even came close. Remember WJ was blocked from high level meetings...this was probably more "meet the chief" and general in nature.
