Four Teams Vying For Juan Castro
Tony Jackson of the L.A. Daily News has been all over the Juan Castro situation. The 35 year-old shortstop became a free agent today, and four clubs are in pursuit. The Dodgers, Padres, Orioles, and Rockies are all after him. Jackson says the Dodgers and Rockies would want him to do a brief Triple A stint.
The Rockies received devastating news today - star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki could be out until July with a torn tendon in his quad. Clint Barmes will assume the starting shortstop position.

even with Tulowitzki's injury, Castro only fits well the Padres...if memory serves, there third basemen is a butcher of almost Brandon Larson like proportions. . .the perfect late inning sub.

yes, this really is how we make our living.
Colorado it is. From rotoworld:
The Denver Post reports that the Rockies have agreed in principle on a minor-league deal with infielder Juan Castro.
Castro is expected to report to Triple-A Colorado Springs where he'll get some at-bats as the Rockies wait to see how Jeff Baker, Omar Quintanilla and Jonathan Herrera perform at second base. If Castro does reach the majors, it should be as a bench player.
I guess our 10 days were up?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
The inability to trade manos after there were 4 teams interested is inconceivable and rests squarely and Walt jocketty's shoulders.
Bet WK woulda got something for him!

Castro should see a bump from Coors Field. He could hit as many as 1 home run, possibly hit as high as .220.
Good for Juan. I wish him nothing but the best. It seems like he'll get playing time in Colorado.
Probably that coveted 1 dollar like in the larue to KC deal.
