IIRC, they called that Phillies team was known as the "Wheeze Kids" a play on the 1950 Phillies team nicknamed the "Wiz Kids." The 83 Phils won their division with the heart of the Big Red Machine helping lead the way.

Retrosheet said Daniels charged the mound after being brushed back after Sabo's homer. Sounded like a wild night at the old ball yard.
Too bad Robinson couldn't get his perfect game. If he had the Reds would have had two pitchers that season with perfecto's.

    You would be correct.
It wasn't just Rose, Perez and Morgan who were older than dirt: Carlton, Schmidt, Maddox, Matthews, Diaz, DeJesus, Greg Gross, Bill Robinson, John Denny, Ruthven, Ron Reed, McGraw, Monge - even the great Porfie Altamirano were over 30.
They even replaced the "young" (42) Pat Corrales with 59-year-old Paul Owens (though I always thought he was much older).
