I saw James McMurtry tonight in Indianapolis.

I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

A mix of stuff, some old, some new...

Electronic, "Get the Message" (their "best of" disc)
    Liam Finn, "I'll be Lightning"
    Githead, "Comology For Beginners"
Manic Street Preachers, "Send Away the Tigers"
    Gary Louris, "Vagabonds"
Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, "Rock Art and the X-Ray Style"
    Blonde Redhead, "23"
    Massive Attack, "100th Window"
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

This is why I don't come to this thread more often; there's always something here to make me feel really old. Liam wasn't even born yet when I was living in Sydney, listening to his dad & uncle with Split Enz. 'matter of fact, Neil seemed like a kid back then.

    Duffy - "Rockferry"

She's British, so naturally I'll make appropriate comparisons -- part Joss Stone, part Amy Winehouse, part Sneaker Pimps-era Kelli Ali.

Her "hit" that's getting a bit of radio spin is called "Mercy" (which does the same retro-vibe as Winehouse's stuff), which is a good tune. Everything else I've downloaded off the album is pretty damn good too.

Even though it's been overplayed - With or Without You by U2. Perfection.

Also, as a shout out to the one and only Dr. Gregory House - You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones.
