Here's what the top three spots in the lineup have done for the Reds (along with the NL average)

    1. .325/.417 (.343/.431)
    2. .281/.331 (.333/.395)
    3. .320/.382 (.364/.497)

    That's gotta change.

    R, L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R

As long as Dusty can do this, he is happy.

Phil, what numbers are you using? performance in those three spots or the current lineup?

For stat fans, there's a bunch of stats (batting and pitching) for both teams in the lineup thread in the Sun Deck

How I would do it (for tonight):

    Keppinger
    Dunn
    Griffey
    Encarnacion
    Votto
    Phillips
    Bako
    Freel

edit: to switch Freel and Kepp.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

The sad thing about the info RedsManRick has provided is that I have little faith Dusty or anyone in the current FO has any idea.

I like it. Option: flip Dunn and Votto.

    Re: 5/6/08 lineup thread

The difference between the Reds and the Cubs is basically Derrek Lee & Aramis Ramirez vs Ken Griffey Jr & Brandon Phillips. The performances of the rest of the teams more or less balances out.

    Dunn/Soriano
    EE/Fukudome
    Bako/Soto
    etc.

While a number of Reds players are struggling quite a bit, only Paul Bako is playing way above his head. Nobody else is playing above a sustainable level; nobody balancing out the struggles. Every team has key players struggling. The Reds problem is the lack of players surging.
