The only hits for the Reds were a homer by Dan Driessen and a single by Cesar Geronimo leading off the fifth inning, a two-out double by Pete Rose in the eighth, and a leadoff single by Joe Morgan in the ninth.

I just have very few memories of Bench batting third. Morgan wasn't in the lineup that day so I guess that kinda explains it but the real puzzler to me was Tolan batting cleanup. Then again like mentioned earlier maybe Sparky wanted a lefty like Tolan in between the right handed sticks.
