Several Reds vets could hit trading block...

    Rosenthal:

Reds G.M. Walt Jocketty says "it's a little bit premature" to discuss a trade of right fielder Ken Griffey Jr., but there is little doubt that Jocketty's actions before the July 31 non-waiver deadline could help determine the future of the franchise.

The Reds have 13 potential free agents, the most of any club. While Griffey and left fielder Adam Dunn are the biggest names, catcher Paul Bako, first baseman Scott Hatteberg, right-handed reliever David Weathers and left-handed relievers Jeremy Affeldt and Kent Mercker are among the others who could have trade value.

    Fogg? Does he have value?
"On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage," Baker said. "Clogging up the bases isn't that great to me."

If a contender needed a backup catcher/temporary starter, absolutely Bako could have value. Not like super prospect value, but value like a Shawn Cumberland who was believed to be a throw in in a deal last year.

Similar to Merker, a team needing BP help could use him for a non-prospect sort. Several of our vets fit that bill, Hatte, Weathers, Lincoln...its all a question of if Walt wants to clean house or not.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98
