    8. The bullpen car.

Especially since Tony LaRussa murdered the late innings with constant changes. If you have to change pitchers every hitter, I expect to see 0 to 60 burnouts to get the next slop artist up there.
    I miss the bullpen car.

And yes, I'm barely old enough to remember it.

Ah, it was replaced with the Todd Coffey sprint. Of course, only Coffey did it. Notice I'm using past tense.

I swear, someone should rebuild the Polo Grounds.

Cyclone, I cannot believe you posted that.

I was watching the HBO special on Bobby Thompson's HR and I started doing research on the Polo Grounds and I have been consumed with it the past couple of weeks.

I would love to step back in time and live in Brooklyn (Ebbet's) or Coogan's Bluff (Polo Grounds) during the 40's and 50's.

Cool to think we could hit a softball out into the upper deck down the LF line.

Funny thing. It was 279 down the LF line, but the upper deck hung over the lower LF seats, so if a ball was hit higher it would only need to 250 to go out.

Thompson's was a liner that made it under the upper deck into the lower seats.

Of course, he probably knew what was coming. How else would he swing at a fastball over his head on a 0-1 count?

Seeing more parks like The Polo Grounds or Baker's Bowl of Shibe Park would be very cool.

    But Astroturf? No way. Never.

Last summer I got to visit New York and I made it a point to take a bus tour through Brooklyn for the sole reason of seeing where Ebbets Field was and get an idea of the surroundings around what was Ebbets Field. It was well worth spending a half day on a bus to see where Ebbets Field once stood. It was very neat to see the site where the stadium once stood, which is now nothing but apartment buildings. At the same time however it was kinda eery to be in such a historic location where so much of the best of baseball history was made but now is all but forgotten about.
