Ben Jukich throws 9-Inning complete game today for Chattanooga

Since apparently 9-inning complete games are so rare for younger pitchers.

Here's the bio on Jukich to remind you how he became a RED (seemingly another nice move by Krivsky):

    Biography:
Selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 13th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft...acquired by the Reds on 6/12/07 as the player to be named later in the 4/27/07 trade with the Athletics that sent RHP Marcus McBeth to the Reds in exchange for OF Chris Denorfia...played collegiately at McCook Community College and Dakota Wesleyan...was the first Dakota Wesleyan player and the first player from the the Great Plains Athletic Conference ever to be selected in the Major League draft (A's, 13th round, 2006).

    Highlights:20072006
Went a combined 11-6 with a 4.35 ERA in 26 starts with Class A Advanced Stockton and Class A Advanced Sarasota...began the season withStockton, where he went 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA in 12 starts...twice had starts for the Ports in which he fired 6.0 shutout innings (5/15 at Inland Empire & 6/1 vs. Modesto)...on 6/12 went to the Reds organization as the PTBNL in the 4/27 trade that sent RHP Marcus McBeth from Oakland to Cincinnati in exchange for OF Chris Denorfia...went 8-2 with a 3.55 ERA in 14 starts with Sarasota (7 quality starts)...in three outings from 8/12-8/22, didn't allow a run over 20.0ip (7h, 5bb, 22k)...perhaps his finest moment of the season came on 9/4 in the first round of the Florida State League playoffs when he blanked Clearwater over 7.0 hitless innings (2bb, 5k, retired final 13 batters he faced)...following the season pitched for Surprise of the prestigious Arizona Fall League.
    Saved two games with a 3.24 ERA in 8 1/3 innings for Class A Short-Season Vancouver...went 3-2 with a 2.38 ERA in 41 2/3 innings for Class A Kane County.

A couple more starts like this and I think a call up to AAA is in order. He really hasn't had a bad outing all year long.

I think given his age he'd be the next candidate to take any spot that opens in the Louisville rotation. Thompson is still young and needs more AA time.

The Reds actually have some other decent prospects at pitcher that don't get much publicity, other than Homer.

    Thompson and Jukich.

Shearn and Pettyjohn are currently in the Louisville rotation. Both are doing well, but given their age are not really prospects. I don't see any problem moving either to AA and bringing Jukich up. It will probably happen sooner or later with the way both Jukich and Thompson are playing, although I agree Thompson needs more time at AA.
