I'm interested to see what lineups everyone here would field. Here's what I got. I'm asking for a debate, here.
Freel
Hairston, Jr.
Phillips
Votto
Encarnacion
Dunn
Bako
Griffey, Jr.

I feel really really bad batting Griffey 8.

Come on guys, I'm bored at work, help me out!

I would honestly play the numbers instead of having a set lineup. Normally I would want Dunn hitting 5-6 against a LHP, but he's rolling right now. The same thing with Phillips against RHP, he doesn't hit them well but he is right now. I wish Freel could bat and Patterson play the field because Freel drives me crazy out there, but he is raking right now. Edwin is slumping and Votto has been but he's had some big hits lately. I like Janish's defense but I don't think he'll continue to look this comfortable at the plate. Basically, I think Dusty should move Dunn up and Jr down in the lineup. The rest of the guys I move around according to who's playing well.
I'm for any lineup which bats Dunn no lower than third (preferrably second) and does not include Patterson. Also, why does current philosophy want to break up left handers in lineups? Current managers would not have gone with Ruth followed by Gehrig. It would seem that you would be better off getting the lead rather than worrying about teams bringing in left handed relievers.

SECOND PLACE DOESN'T CONCERN ME
1. Hairston
2. Dunn
3. Votto
4. Phillips
5. Griffey
6. E.E.
7. Catcher
8. Freel
I like Freel batting in the 8 spot. When he is batting 1st I hate it when he takes chances with the big hitters coming up. If he bats 8th, he can take more chances without it hurting the team as much. This logic might not make any sense but its what I am thinking today. I may change my mind in a few days.
Why not?

Pathei mathos...
Of the current options:
1 Ryan Freel CF (He can be a bit daredevil but he's one of our better options at this point)
2 Adam Dunn LF (Been wanting to see the Reds try this for 2 years on a consistant basis just because of all the walks)
3 Edwin Encarncion 3b (Can work counts)
4 Joey Votto 1b (not a true #4 but at this time I don't think we have one)
5 Brandon Phillips 2b (clean up any unfinished messes)
6 Ken Griffey RF (If he shows he can pick it up you move him back up to 3 or 4)
7 Paul Janish SS (He had a nice 1st game, see if he's Kepp or Deion)
8 Catcher du jour (whoevers hot)
9 Pitcher (I just don't believe in batting the pitcher usually your worst hitter higher than last making you pull things possibly earlier).
Including guys in the minors:
1 Ryan Freel CF (He can be a bit daredevil but he's one of our better options at this point)
2 Adam Dunn LF (Been wanting to see the Reds try this for 2 years on a consistant basis just because of all the walks)

4 Joey Votto 1b (not a true #4 but at this time I don't think we have one)
5 Brandon Phillips 2b (clean up any unfinished messes)
6 Jay Bruce RF (We need to see if he has "it")
7 Paul Janish SS (He had a nice 1st game, see if he's Kepp or Deion)
8 Catcher du jour (whoevers hot Bako/Ross)
9 Pitcher (I just don't believe in batting the pitcher usually your worst hitter higher than last making you pull things possibly earlier).
I dont want this to sound like a slap to Griffey, he just is not part of the future at this point. He was a great player but Father Time looks like he's taken Griff's bat and without that he doesnt have the range to really make up for it.
I like these last 2 lineups also, but I'd switch Phillips to 4th and Votto to 5th. Griffey will never see a pitch at 4th, but it probably wouldn't matter anyway. Bruce over Griffey would also be my choice right now.
