Reds add a radio affiliate in Lousiville

Reds Radio Network Adds New Louisville Affiliate

CINCINNATI (May 21, 2008) – The Cincinnati Reds have announced that Cumulus station WQKC-FM 93.9 “The Ticket” will be the newest affiliate of the Reds Radio Network.

The first broadcast will be the Reds vs. San Diego Padres game on Thursday, May 22 at 10:10 EST.

“We are excited to have 93.9 The Ticket as the voice of the Reds in Louisville,” said Phil Castellini, Chief Operating Officer of the Cincinnati Reds. “We have a huge fan base in Louisville, and now those fans can follow their favorite team on a great sports talk radio station.”

Due to prior commitments, a few of the remaining 116 games of the Reds 2008 season will be aired on WAVG-AM 1450.

Broadcasters for Reds on Radio include Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman, Marty’s son Thom Brennaman, former Reds pitcher Jeff Brantley.

Longtime Triple-A Louisville Bats voice Jim Kelch will do fill-in work on 14 Reds radio broadcasts this season.

The Reds on Radio Network can be heard on 53 stations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee.

WQKC-AM replaces WKRD-FM as the Reds on Radio affiliate for the Louisville area.

Without looking it up - but the article is a little confusing... is the new affiliate AM or FM?

    FM...

If there's a decimal point, it's FM....and AMs end in a 0, FMs end in an odd number.

I'm thinking FM since it's 93.9 but it says AM later on.

This is a good move, IIRC, some board members have complained about a weak signal down there. Hopefully this will allow a wider listening audience resulting in additional fans to come see the ballclub.

The AM station is the backup station that will air the games when 93.3 has prior obligations.
