I don't think another race needs to be added to the current schedule, but it would be nice to see a race moved from another track that has more than one date already. That track is so out in the middle of nowhere though...not the most convenient of places to visit from a fan perspective.

What's likely to happen (at least early indications) is one of the New Hampshire races would be moved to Kentucky.....

There's a press conference at 3 that may have more answers

I've been to Kentucky Speedway, and it's a very nice place. I don't know if it deserves a Sprint cup race, but it looks like they will get one none the less.

That might actually change pending this decision. Virtually all developed has been halted during the last several years until the NASCAR decision became clear.

If this indeed comes true, then I would expect many things around the townn of Sparta to begin evolving.

They'll probably expand the grandstands to fit 100,000 people for starters...

Wikipedia says it only seats 66,000 now, so that would defenitly be a huge help.

Supposedly the place was designed with expansion in mind. Up to 200,000, IIRC.

It's a great track to watch a race. No bad seats.

I'm not a big NASCAR guy, but when they get their race, I'd be interested in checking it out. I have several friends into the sport, so I'd definitely want to go with them.....and drink a lot.

I saw an Arca race there a few years back....and drank a lot.

200,000? That would be huge for such a remote location.

    Agreed.

This site in Gallatin County fit the geographic requirements, being close enough to the interstate to handle the traffic. Work began. Builders reshaped land into a bowl. Little by little, a track appeared there. Moss says that he was able to design for expansion, ultimately to accommodate 200,000 people. His approach, he says, has saved millions of dollars.

By comparison, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has the seating capacity of any sporting venue in the world, seats around 250,000.

    200,000 is darn impressive.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

Its not that remote. Its close enough to Cincinnati, Louisville, Indianapolis and Lexington and that doesn't even count the people who travel big time to watch these things every weekend.

Kentucky Speedway could be 200k with no infield seating. And a mile shorter than Indy.
