Freel starts it out with a single. Nice start. He's having himself a nice season offensively.

What's this, a leadoff hitter that's getting on base? When was this discovered? I never knew such a thing existed.

I understand putting the right-handed center fielder in to face the lefty Wolf, but why stick with the left-handed catcher? I'm not saying it's wrong, just wondering how to justify it. To me, this says Dusty thinks Bako's game calling and defense are far superior to Ross...enough to justify the drop off in offense. That or Ross is just tired. :

If only Freel knew how to play SS and could do it compatently, it would solve a lot of problems.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

As long as we're wishing, could we have Jay Bruce be a superior defensive SS...that'd solve all our problems at once.
